Success Stories

The following is an email sent from one of Clovernooks constituents who had been working with our Computer Skills Instructor:

For the first time I begin to write you by using my own hands. What I mean is, I am typing you this letter on my very own computer. How about that? On August 13th this all the way down dude with the computer entered my WORLD. He came to my house and installed my computer and he began to teach me how to use it. Now because I have my computer, I am never bored. This dude, who’s name is Larry, also installed some software called TALKING TYPING TEACHER and JAWS. TALKING TYPING TEACHER is a program that teaches a blind person to type. JAWS is a screen reading software that reads the screen for me. It’s been a month since I got all of these things, but since then I have learned a lot. I have learned how to turn my computer on and off, how to bring up the start menu and retrieve files, how to write letters and edit documents using Microsoft Word, to record addresses, phone number, appointments and so on. I find it all very exciting!
